Natural Disaster Environmental Recovery

Condamine Alliance is delivering much needed funds to flood affected landholders in the Condamine catchment as part of the Australian Government's natural disaster environmental recovery package. The Australian Government has recognised the impact of the recent floods in the catchment and is making additional resources available to support landholders and communities in affected areas. The government has invested $100,000 in the Condamine catchment towards the environmental recovery efforts following the 2011 floods to be managed by Condamine Alliance. The package is funded through special provisions under Caring for our Country to support environmental and agricultural recovery activities in flood, cyclone and bushfire affected areas.

Landholders have received advice on flood recovery and /or funds for specific eligible activities including:

  • Stream bank and gully restoration
  • Replanting and restoration of impacted native vegetation
  • Restoration of fencing where the purpose of the fencing is stock exclusion or reduction of grazing pressure to important environmental areas
  • Reconstruction of wildlife corridors
  • Removal of debris spread by flood waters or high winds where the debris is having a negative impact on the environment or sustainable farm practices
  • Control of pest weeds where these have been spread by the natural disaster
