Condamine Alliance – Founding Members

Condamine Alliance is a commercial entity. The company was founded by 5 members of the Condamine community:

Landcare

Landcare is a national network of thousands of locally-based community groups who care for our country. Australia is proud to boast more than 4000 community Landcare groups and many thousands of Landcare volunteers in most towns across the country.

Through Australia's people and communities, the Landcare movement is making a big difference in caring for our country.

All around Australia, Landcare volunteers are proving that together we can repair and viably manage our precious natural resources. This unique partnership between communities, government and organisations is achieving great things.

Toowoomba Regional Environment Council

TREC is the only regional environment council in Queensland west of the Great Dividing Range.  TREC is a member of Queensland's peak conservation organisation, Queensland Conservation Council. TREC's aims and objectives are to:

  • Establish, maintain and promote the Environment Centre at a location easily accessible to the public. 
  • Through its general activities and by operating the Environment Centre TREC aims to:
  • Actively solicit the membership, financial support and advice of local/regional conservation, natural history and heritage groups, land care groups, local councils, and other opportunity for them to publicise their views;
  • Gather, display and disseminate information relating to nature conservation, heritage preservation, environmental protection, land management and energy and materials conservation, global issues and peace.
  • Enhance communication and assist in the coordination of activities among regional groups with an interest in environmental issues and provide a link between these regional groups and those operating at state, national and international levels;
  • Advocate, promote and actively extend the concepts of ecologically sustainable development and environmental conservation in ways that are consistent with social justice;
  • Monitor the course of regional planning and development and to provide public comment and take action as and where deemed necessary.
  • Generate public support for environmental issued by lobbying, publicity, and other non-violent means, as an independent body or in co-operation with individuals, member and relevant interest groups.

Condamine Catchment Management Association (CCMA)

The CCMA is one of four catchment management associations which cover the Queensland section of the Murray-Darling Basin. Integrated Catchment Management (ICM) is a philosophy for achieving long term sustainable use of our land, water and related biological resources. It aims to coordinate the activities of landholders, community groups, industry groups and all spheres of government within a river catchment.

Condamine Balonne Water Committee

Condamine Balonne Water Committee is a Natural Resource management group who in partnership with the Condamine Alliance undertook a project to lead water quality monitoring in the Condamine Alliance area. The community-based Waterwatch program was utilized for this purpose and a Waterwatch coordinator appointed.
